Why?

When you meet with a prospective client for the first time, what is your focus? Do you spend most of your time asking ‘what’ questions: What are you looking for? What are your taste preferences? What look are you trying to achieve?

Those are important, but they won’t help you maximize your value to your client. What matters to your client is not just ‘what’ they want, but ‘why’ they want it. The more you understand why they want what they want, the more you’ll understand their motivation and them.

All things equal, when selecting a designer, your prospects will choose the designer they feel ‘gets’ them the most. Understanding your client’s ‘why’ is a great way to show that you ‘get’ them, which means that you’re in the best position to give them the space of their dreams.

Once you understand their ‘why’, paint a picture of them in their new space, and describe what it will look like and feel like to them. When you do that, you’ll win your next interior design client!

WFCP Annual Color Challenge is Back!

Below is a note from Deb Barrett,

******************************************

We had so much fun with the color blocking project that this year we have put together another challenge.

We know that a lot of you are proficient in the rendering software that is available, so here’s a shout out to you all and an opportunity to get published!
This year our WFCP Color Challenge for the WF Vision color issue celebrates women artisans. Choose from one of the paintings above created by these great woman artists—from the Renaissance to now– and create a interior color palette of 3 or more colors. Even better…create a rendering of a room setting, complete with your amazing custom window treatment design based on your color palette selection. You get absolute freedom to design any type of window treatment you want….
We ask you to bring your design to life using the graphic rendering software of your choice and to tell us why you choose that painting and pulled that particular palette.

Submit your design with your name, business name, city and state. This is the field of dreams type of design challenge we all love- no boundaries and no budget. You give us creative color palettes and out of- the- box window fashions inspired by the great women and we’ll get you published.

Room set entries received by August 31,2012 will be entered to win some great prizes. Submit entries to Deb Barrett at debbb6@aol.com.

Phones & internet came back on early afternoon! We’re busy playing catch up. Have a great weekend everyone ~

Storms and heavy rains took down large branches from one of our twin cedar trees. Sad . . . Our internet and all phone lines are down as well. Glad for my iPad with LTE service. Called Comcast and they said it is a huge outage for the city of Hendersonville. We received over 3.4″ of rain. Hopefully, we’ll be back up and running soon.

Love our trees. They have been around for a long time.

This morning Fliplab announced a super sale on three great apps. These apps are not for your iPhone or iPad they’re for your Mac laptop or desktop computer. These apps reside on top bar on the right side. I didn’t find out about the Mac App store for months after getting my Mac, but now that I’ve found it . . . . I love the Mac app store.

You can purchase almost any Mac software through the Mac App Store. Who knew! What’s the benefit? You never have to install a software. If you purchase a new Mac computer all you need to do is sign into your iTunes account in the Mac App Store and all your purchases are restored. It’s the same concept that works in iTunes with your phone or iPad. How easy is that?

NoteTab Pro allows you to make super quick notes. You can create folders and sync notes with Dropbox. Click on the link to read more. On sale today for only .99 cents.

MailTab Pro is a quick way to check your Gmail account. You won’t believe how much time it can save when checking emails. Click on the link to read more. On sale today for only .99 cents.

Last but not least, is FX Photo Studio for your Mac. This is a super easy-to-use photo editing app. If you want to make your photographs look incredible, check out this app on sale by Fliplab for 24 hours – only $4.99. I have FX Photo Studio on my iPhone and iPad and love it.

If you own a Mac computer and use Facebook, I recommend this app. It is quick and easy to view recent posts or to actually create a post on your personal or business timeline. I love the Mac app store. ♥ Look for more of my favorite Mac Apps – coming soon.

This app is on sale for .99 cents for the next 24 hours. Hurry buy now, even if you’re not sure what it is. You’ll understand how it works after you purchase.

Do you have lots of friends on Facebook? Do you visit Facebook everyday? If you have a lot of friends and don’t visit Facebook everyday, some of your friends might tag you in a photo and you might not want that photo visible on your profile. There’s an easy way to prevent being tagged without you approving it. Here’s how:

First, go to your Wall/Timeline Page > click the small down arrow (upper right corner) > click Privacy Settings.

Next, click Timeline and Tagging > Edit Settings.

You’re almost done. Click “Review posts friends tag you in before they appear on your timeline” click the arrow next to Off > select Enabled > click Back to save your changes. Repeat this for “Review tags friends add to your own posts on Facebook.”

You’re all set! Now anytime a friend tags you in a photo, you’ll have a chance to view/approve before it posts to your timeline.

Happy 4th of July to everyone! I love the USA. I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.

Facebook just launched a new app called Facebook Pages Manager which always you to manage your business page(s) on Facebook. I downloaded this morning to my iPhone and within a few minutes I was able to create a post for my Dandelion Facebook page. Check out my Dandelion Facebook page – if you have the newest iPhone you don’t even have to type anything. All I did was retrieve a photo from my phone, tell Siri the text I wanted to post and voilà my post was done and done. Off to find more new input today. I love technology.

Everyday, I read at least 1 – 2 hours.  I read my Bible, articles on health, food, technology and marketing. Today, I found an article that is definitely worth sharing with everyone. The article is by Kim Komando on how to revive your phone if you drop it in water.

Rescuing your phone from water damage

  • Retrieve it quickly from the water.
  • Remove the battery & sim card.
  • Quickly, remove excess water with a paper towel.
  • Blow dry to remove more moisture. (DO NOT USE HEAT; heat will damage the phone)
  • Place phone & battery into a large bowl of uncooked rice.
  • Leave your phone & battery in the rice for 24 hours. (Rotate after 12 hours)

Last spring, I actually dropped my iPhone in a bucket of water while shopping for flowers at a wholesale florist. I thought I was going to die of a heart attack. I acted quick, by plunging after my phone within a split second. The people at the shop said they had never seen anyone move that fast. I didn’t open my phone or dry with a cool blow dryer; I just dried it off with paper towels.

That day, I saved my baby. 🙂
